Open House @ Kootenay Piano Works

Kootenay Piano Works is opening their new Kimberley showroom to the public on April 18th. Stop by between noon and 5pm to hear students from local music teachers Marta Zeegers and Arne Sahlen perform every hour, check out the space, and tour the piano rebuilding shop. Try out some of the pianos yourself, or just swing by to welcome this new addition to the community. Full details on the Facebook event page.

I was at the bookshop yesterday, so I didn’t make it up to the Spring Splash. But from what I heard, it was a full house up there, and the weather couldn’t have been better for crossing open water on one or two planks.

Speaking of planks, tomorrow, Monday, is your last chance for skiing or snowboarding at KAR - April 6th marks the end of the winter season. So get your last turns in while you can.

While we’re on the topic of closures, did you hear the Visitor Information Centre is closing at the end of the month? They’re reaching out to the community for input as they “map out Tourism Kimberley’s Strategic Plan for the next five years.” Take the survey here - they're asking, might as well tell them.

Vive Movement has a new set of dance classes for kids starting in January. You can get your kids registered on their website now.

Also, registration for Rocky Mountain Rugby’s Mini Rugby is open for their winter season.

Don’t forget to order your New Year’s Eve cakes from Grow. A tuxedo mouse cake is the perfect way to start 2026!

Going out on New Year’s Eve? Remember, we have a free shuttle that will take you to/from the Platzl and the Nordic Club and areas in between.

Banff Film Festival is making a stop at the Key City Theatre in Cranbrook on Friday and Saturday. All the details are here.

The Kimberley Nordic Club is looking for volunteers for the 2026 Teck Kootenay Cup! Click here and sign up if you can help out.

Last but not least, if you forgot to buy your KAR season’s pass while it was cheap(er) and don’t want to pay full price to ski, apply to be a janitor at the resort. Get paid to clean and ski for free!
